SUMMARY OF SECOND EDITION OF THE CWC

Introduction

The announcement of the second CWC was given on May 20, 2017 through the social network Facebook

The tournament began on August 28 and ended on November 5, 2017.

Participating teams

It has been the world cup with the lowest number of teams registered so far (24), for the case of Central and North America, Aruba, Canada, Honduras and Panama stopped participating, while in South America, Brazil and Ecuador. In Asia only Japan participated and in Europe Switzerland stopped participating. This world cup had the incorporation of a new country by Europe and another by the Caribbean: Gibraltar and Montserrat respectively.

Rooster (BD) and total players by war

The second edition had a change in the rooster of 8 TH11, 5 TH10 and 17 TH9, extending from 25 to 30 the total number of players compared to the previous edition.

Modality of competition and pairings

As of the second edition, it was decided to carry out a preliminary group phase and then define it through play offs. Given that the number of teams was 24, it was decided to create 4 groups of 6 teams each, making the first 4 of each group pass.

For the play offs, these would be established in a staggered way, being:
1st A - 4th B, 1st B - 4th C, 1st C - 4th D, 1st D - 4th A.
2nd A - 3rd B, 2nd B - 3rd C, 2nd C - 3rd D, 2nd D - 3rd A.

In this competition was also established a rest period of 1 week for war, unlike the previous edition which the war was held every 3 days. This allowed the countries to have a better defense as a result of all the matches being streamed and many players did not have enough time to change their base of war.

Results in group stage

In the first stage, the countries of Argentina, Gibraltar, Peru and Spain would remain as leaders of groups A, B, C and D.
Between the controversies emphasizes the retirement of Puerto Rico during the competition after which the organization would grant 0 points to him in spite of to have won 2 wars officially, added to that those wars won were granted like triumphs to the equipment which won. Also the retirement of Cuba prior to starting the wars of his group, making the organization declare with a triumph all the countries with which Cuba had to compete.

Among the surprises and revelation stood out the then new team of Gibraltar, having won all their wars including France that had been 3rd in the previous Clash World Cup. Meanwhile Peru surprised in the last date to Mexico taking away the lead of group 3 as well like Argentina that, in spite of the defeat in the last date in the group stage against El Salvador, would reach him to stay as leader of group 1. Likewise Spain, reigning champion, ratified again his condition of favorite when winning all his wars in the group stage.

On the other side of the key, Peru, in an even war and thanks to Ayrton's full (2/2) in TH10 and effective defenses in TH9, he was able to overcome the then favorite in that El Salvador war.

The duel of Gibraltar, until then, surprise and revelation of the championship, against Belgium was marred by adding some different players to his initial payroll of the latter, Gibraltar in the last moments of war would stop attacking in protest against this fact , making Belgium finally win the match by 78-69, this being the most bulky score until this time in the stories of the World Cups of Clash of Clans.

"Symbolic" Final and definition by the 2nd and 3rd place

In an unprecedented event, Japan was declared champion of the tournament without playing the respective final given the penalty imposed on Peru, according to Exo, its organizer, Japan had to play against Belgium the final since it did not recognize the triumph of Peru over Belgium. This last team, after the controversy raised throughout this World Cup, decided not to play the final against Japan but to dispute the 2nd place, which corresponded therefore, against Colombia. In a gesture of honor and not feeling proud to win the world cup in this way, Japan decided to play a war against Peru in a symbolic way, this meeting would take place on November 5 with Japan being the winner by 79 to 77 and thus , reaffirming his condition of being the 1st world champion for the Asian continent. Given that the organizer waited for the end of this war to give the final podium, this war is considered as official CWC despite not having effect on the podium positions in case Peru would have emerged victorious. For the dispute between the 2nd and 3rd place, Colombia would impose very tight 79-78 on Belgium.
